Rémi Boucher (guitar)
October 5 @ 7:30 pm MDT$25
Muttart Hall, Alberta College
One of the guitar world’s true virtuosos, Canadian Rémi Boucher is renowned for his innovative technique and for brilliant performances of the repertoire’s most difficult works. A winner of many international competitions, including the Andres Segovia in Spain, the Alessandria in Italy and the Havana competition in Cuba, Boucher has performed to critical acclaim in the United States, China, Russia, Germany, Mexico, Spain and many other countries. He has collaborated with composer Jacques Marchand on a guitar concerto that one reviewer suggested might be called a concerto for three hands, and has himself created a series melodic and dream-like compositions that aim to extend the possibilities of the instrument. Remi Boucher is currently professor of guitar at Laval University and at the Conservatory of Music in Quebec City.
“Rami Boucher has fire, passion, zest and poetry and he has them in spades. There is hope for the guitar when it is played like this… “
Colin Cooper, Classical Guitar Magazine
