J.S. Bach: The Circle of Creation
Alison Mackay’s acclaimed J.S. Bach: The Circle of Creation was premiered in 2014/2015. This multimedia creation combines text, the music of J.S. Bach, and stunning video images to explore the world of the artists – papermakers, violin carvers, string spinners, and performers – who helped Bach realize his musical genius. The production, performed from memory, blends 21st century technology with an exploration of the tradition and skill of old-world craftspeople and artisans. The program will consist of excerpts from Bach’s cantatas, violin sonatas and partitas, cello suites, orchestral suites, the Goldberg Variations, Brandenburg Concerto No. 3, and solo harpsichord works.
