Prokofiev’s violin song of joy and beauty
Conducted by Alexander Prior
Prokofiev’s first violin concerto is one of the staples of the repertoire, a work that celebrates joy and beauty, while soloist Simone Porter is one of the most exciting of the younger generation of international violinists. Estacio’s work was inspired by his first sight of the northern lights after moving to Alberta. And Schoenberg, herald of the modern era, was a great admirer of “Brahms the Progressive,” as he called him.
Please join us for symphony prelude at 7 p.m. on the Upper Circle (Third Level) lobby with Amanda Banister.
