Concert/Panel discussion
What good are artists anyway?

This diverse programme of miniatures spanning the 18th century through today will not only delight and entertain, but will set the stage for our panel to opine on the role of artists and their music in Western society. Is art music merely entertaining? Can it be educational? Political? Moral? Does the availability of classical music really matter? Is it a public good? Is the performance of live classical music dying away, as we so often hear?
